Voyage d’hiver à deux voix à Villefavard
Cycle de Lieder emblématique du romantisme allemand, le Voyage d’hiver (Winterreise) de Schubert peut déconcerter l’auditeur autant qu’il parvient à créer l’atmosphère paradoxale d’un voyage faussement immobile car cyclique et profondément mélancolique. Désirant en proposer une lecture et surtout une compréhension plus profonde au public français, la Compagnie Miroirs Étendus imagine un spectacle reconfigurant cet opus. Ce cycle étant composé de deux cahiers, le premier est ici confié à une voix de mezzo-soprano et le second à un baryton, mais les Lieder sont remis dans l’ordre des poèmes écrits par Wilhelm Müller (d’où un ordre un peu différent de celui habituel et quelques alternances des chanteurs au fil du programme). Les paroles traduites en français par Antoine Thiollier sont projetées, pour mieux suivre les errances de ce voyageur triste et solitaire, ainsi que les subtilités de double-sens poétiques.
La Compagnie Miroirs Étendus a imaginé pour ce projet un spectacle son et lumière, mais c'est ici l'intimité de la version de concert qui est proposée, avec toutefois quelques touches de couleurs aux éclairages, efficaces et subtils.
Bien qu’écrits pour ténor et conquis par les barytons, le choix d’une voix féminine (qui n’est pas inédit, tant ce cycle a été chanté) offre une interprétation renouvelée pour ces Lieder. D’autant que le timbre rond aux graves tendrement chaleureux de Victoire Bunel apporte toute sa dimension réconfortante. Son attention envers la langue poétique et les phrasés musicaux installe une présence attachante, renforcée par le contraste équilibré de ses nuances aussi marquées que douces.
La voix masculine est confiée au baryton Jean-Christophe Lanièce qui fait preuve d’autant de soin envers le texte et la langue. Son timbre très chaleureux s’agrémente d’intentions marquées, affirmées et toujours efficientes dans les passages forte comme piano. La finesse de ses lignes mélodiques et du choix de ses nuances soutient une interprétation émouvante, jusqu’au lent cheminement vers l’auberge qui, refusant le voyageur condamné à poursuivre sa pérégrination, devient cimetière.
L’accompagnement du pianiste Romain Louveau, également à la direction artistique de la Compagnie, installe comme un décor très présent, où son jeu dessine comme des personnages dialoguant avec ce voyageur solitaire. Présent par un touché très net et particulièrement attentif, le pianiste n’en est pas moins expressif, équilibrant ses mains et ses voix entre fermeté et subtilité.
Profitant de l’acoustique de l’auditorium de la Ferme de Villefavard (travaillée par nul autre qu’Albert Yaying Xu, l’acousticien de La Grange au Lac), la Compagnie enregistre le concert devant le public parfaitement attentif et sensible. Si l’alternance entre deux chanteurs provoque parfois une légère rupture de cycle, elle permet de renouveler l’écoute et de susciter une compréhension différente. Malgré la thématique du concert, c’est avec une grande chaleur que les spectateurs du Festival du Haut Limousin applaudissent les artistes, manifestant leur reconnaissance pour ce travail d’interprétation.
